Watchmaking Training Program

The courses are designed for all who wish to learn the craft of watchmaking.
The training program covers:

  • Theory of Watchmaking
  • Theory and hands-on training on manual winding and automatic mechanical movements
  • Theory and hands-on training on electronic movements
  • Theory and hands-on training on mechanical chronographs
  • Theory and hands-on training on electronic chronographs
  • Onomatology, function, and component analysis of a simple manual-winding movement
  • Onomatology and component analysis of external case parts
  • Tools and machines (onomatology, usage, and maintenance)
  • Mainspring mechanics – alignment and barrel casing
  • Mathematical formulas relevant to watchmaking
  • Technical manuals and how to use them
  • Escapement theory
  • Movement cleaning process – use of cleaning machines
  • Common faults and repairs in movements and components
  • Onomatology, function, and component analysis of an automatic mechanical movement
  • Mainspring mechanics in automatic mechanical movements
  • Extraction, balance stuff replacement, alignment, and balancing of balance wheel
  • Balance wheel and hairspring training (practical exercises)
  • Crystal removal and installation
  • Day-date system mechanism
  • Electronic component measurements
  • Quartz movement analysis using a timing machine
  • Mechanical movement analysis using a timing machine
  • Movement casing and water resistance testing
  • English-language component onomatology
  • Technology (lubricants, metals, etc.)

Equipment

All necessary equipment is fully provided by WATCHMAKING.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the theoretical and practical exams, students will receive an official Technical Watchmaker Certification.
