Education Directorate
Dimitris Gerontopoulos
He earned his Watchmaking Diploma after completing a three-year program at the Greek Public School of Watchmaking and immediately began working as a Watchmaking Technician for various Greek businesses.
He quickly advanced to the role of Assistant Technical Director at ROLEX HELLAS S.A., a position he held for eight productive years. During this time, he also studied Business Administration & Management, earning a mini MBA from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). His business studies led him to a position at the P. Kyriakidis Group of Companies, where he worked as a Management Consultant in the financial department, while simultaneously teaching watchmaking courses as an Instructor at the Greek Public School of Watchmaking.
His passion for watchmaking led him to further education. After successfully passing entrance exams, he was admitted to the prestigious Swiss WOSTEP Foundation, one of the world's most renowned watchmaking training centers, from which he graduated as a certified watchmaker.
Upon returning to Greece, he founded Watchmaking, with the primary goal of training watchmakers, organizing and managing technical departments, equipping and setting up workshops, and handling watch repairs and maintenance of all types. To further strengthen his expertise, he earned an MBA from the University of Derby, equipping himself with scientific knowledge to meet industry challenges.
Driven by his commitment to education and training, he expanded Watchmaking into a Lifelong Learning Center for Watchmaking, offering a recognized qualification in the field.
At the beginning of 2020, Mr. Gerontopoulos expanded his career internationally, relocating to the United States to take on the role of Technical Director at M&G Jewelers, where he was responsible for setting up and managing the company's technical department. The global health crisis did not hinder his passion—he continued to provide private training in high-end watchmaking for luxury brands and companies.
In January 2021, he established Watchmaking Kft. in Budapest, Hungary, broadening his services to technical department development and management consulting, workshop setup (tools and machinery), technician training, professional seminars, and business expansion for watchmaking and jewelry companies. By June 2021, Watchmaking expanded into Serbia, focusing on technical department consulting and management.
Today, Dimitris Gerontopoulos divides his time between Greece, the United States, Hungary, and Serbia, offering a comprehensive range of services that elevate watchmaking to the level of high art.
